Not Charging

I have a '78 SX650 wired with a TC Brothers Chopper wiring harness and the original electrical parts on the bike. My problem is the system won't charge. I have a new battery. The battery drains down after riding the bike and it drains faster with the lights on. Any suggestions on what I should check first?
