I have a 1980 special, replaced rotor, reads at 5.7ohms.
New alternator brushes, and the timing is spot on.

When idling, the battery reads 11.9 volts, and at 3~4k rpms it reads 12.3 or so.
What could be my problem now? :banghead:

before the brushes and rotor though it would run for five minutes, now it'll maintain running for 20 some miles, but not recharging.

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot a very important note, why I'm posting instead of searching old topics.

When I replaced the rotor and brushes I took a reading and was getting 13~14volts, so it was charging well. That was several weeks ago, why would the system suddenly stop working? I rechecked the rotor and still good ohms

For 20 miles, you are just running off the battery. Follow the steps in Curly's guide. You need to find out if the new rotor is producing a strong magnetic field (slap test)
