hagon in the uk make some nice shocks. they'll make em to your spec too, theyve been doing this since the seventies. real cool to deal with too. http://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/
I had a set of the Monza shocks before and they are really stiff. They are a universal shock meant for larger machines. The other shocks that you can get at Mikes, MC Distibuting, and XS direct with the remote resevior are just plain garbage. I got a set last year and they came apart in my garage, mounted on the bike before I even made it to the street! The shock body let go while sitting on it, sending the spring flying straight back into the wall!! I sure am glad that I wasn't riding it at the time! I have a set of 13" Progressive shocks on my XS and they work great. I've used these many times in the past. I ordered the optional heavier spring rate which is a little stiff for the street, but, work well for the track......with bronze bushings, tappered steering head beerings, steering dampner, fork brace, etc, etc
