Springer forks

stevec, I might suggest contacting bobberpros and ask them what bearings fit the stem.
Trailer bearings come in diffent sizes, perhaps the stem was sized to 1 1/16 or 1 1/8 inch.
Either that or take the bearings that don't fit and your stem and see if you can return the ones that don't fit and see if they nhave any that do fit.

To let everyone know I took the neck stem off the springer and had it turned down just enough to allow the bearings to slide on. It's all on the bike now, so it's on to the next task at hand. Thanks for everyone's input.

Hi, take the HD bearings and XS cups and yr good to go. Cups via www.xs650.biz is a shop in Holland.
otherwise if you want to spend a view bucks more check kruyswater on Facebook. He is in Holland and builds springer forks for about 1100 Euro if i'm not mistaking

Thanks chiel. You got any experience with springers and xs? What size of HD bearings do i need?

well things turned out a little different here.

I had started cutting up an XS frame but after some tacking and welding and reviewing I wasn't pleased with what it would become.
so I ended up from scratch...

friends of mine did use the springer with the original frame with success, although a small side note has to be made that DNA springers are said to be less stable then the high value ones...

from heidentunig.com or mikes xs probably as well a bearing set is available which has the cups to go with http://www.heidentuning.nl/p/28/2628/mo74-cg%7C21=3/%2328-2009-steering-head-tapered-roller-bearing-kit

assuming you are still having the ball bearing cups in place you need to replace those with the cups in the sets provided.

it might be (will measure/ check tonight) that the top bearing in this kit (inner diameter 25mm) will fit the HD/DNA springer stem, but for mine I got 2 Timken bearings L44643. these are having the right diameter for the 1 inch stem and the angle of the racers are matching the cups provided by Heidentuning/Mikes XS

Ok just checked and the bearing from mikeXS or heidentuning is likely from MCI and only has 25Y marked on it. Thanks to Google i found this bearing to be 25,0 mm inner diameter where HD is 25,4 mm. So you need 2 new ones...

I just read threw the whole thread and not to sure what my problem could be. I had the mikexs kit already installed into my neck http://www.mikesxs.net/product/28-2009.html. So i went to put the spring on but I noticed that the bottom bearing when I go to seat it into the bottom race of the neck it doesnt sit level in the race, if i push on the edges it goes up and down .

Now with the races and bearing from the mikesxs kit the bearing stay flush (thought the race was not seated even, but it is)

The bearing I got are from advance auto, and they fit over the stem of the springer but like i said there is play in them.

Im guessing I have to buy different bearings?
