Yup - just would like to point out once again that a lot of the parts people need on our ol' bikes such as seals, bearings, nuts and bolts are used on MANY other models including some current models.
That means that when you go in and speak to the pimply-faced teenybopper behind the parts counter, you are not asking for a left-handed frammis seal - for 1976 Yamaha XS650C - you are asking for a frammis part for a 2013 Yamaha FJR or some other current or nearly current model.
To find out which parts are on a given model simply do the following:
- go to Partsfish.com
- select your year and model of Yamaha XS650
- find the relevant part and part number and hold your finger on the P/N (iPads) or right click it (PCs) and a new window will pop-up with a listing of all the bikes that used that same part.
- NOW, go to your dealer and see if he/she has the part in stock or can get it.
- ALTERNATIVELY, simply search for that part number (just enter the part number - only - in the search window) on eBay - you might be surprised to find how many NOS examples, are for sale, cheap - right now.
Cheers,
Pete
