Well I used all new bolts and nuts from mikes whe I built the motor and for some reson teh mount comes into contact with the inner head bolts/Nuts. I guess I will just grind and cut away jist enough as so they dont touch. Thanks.
The top mount stabilizes the top of the engine. This takes a lot of the strain off the rest of the mounts. Several people have written about how the rear mount on the engine breaks. The find this when they run without the top mount. The top mount also helps stiffen the frame so it doesn't wobble in the corners.
I agree with nj1639 about the mount, if you had it apart then it can be a PITA to get back together right.

I don't run one, and there are others on this forum like me. There is discussion arguing both ways floating around here though. I put about 6,000 miles on the bike this year with no perceivable problems.
