I've been wanting to add a deeper oil sump to my '83. Problem is, the sidestand gets in the way. With the factory sidestand, even checking the sump filter requires that the engine mounts be removed or the engine pulled out altogether. So I made this ugly but very strong and stable sidestand.
The bracket is homemade and bolts into both sides of the frame via the four bolts (two on each side of the bike) that used to hold the stock pipes. The spring is the stock spring and the stand itself is a reinforced XT200 Yamaha stand.
I sat my 220 lbs butt on the bike and rocked it and it held firm. And it even stands up in soft dirt without bricks, boards or beer cans.
Someday, I'll take it off and paint it.
PS. The arm was cut off my factory stand, bent and welded on.
