UK Board Tracker Build Thread

Today I carried on with the levers. Got both machined and the bearing as pressed in. I also machined the foot pieces for each one, along with an aluminium boss and bearing spacers. Next week I'll carry on with the gear linkage. The old one is shown cut down but I'm going to make another.

Thanks John, I'm really pleased with the way they've turned out. Probably a little over board on the time spent but at least they're not just bought in rear sets - they're unique. Hopefully, I can start and pick the pace up a bit in the coming month or so :)

Sweet! I went back to your original design, and you're really keeping to the initial look...can't wait to see finished.

PS: I'm jealous of the milling/fab resources you have access to, and that you have and the skill to use it! More importantly, that you're actually using it to build something like this. I have a "friend" that has all this fabrication gear and doesn't do jack-squat with it. Nor let anyone else use it. :(

Hi Brassneck, Thank you for the kind words. Yep. The design is, sort of, coming to life. I don't really have a great deal of equipment - I'd like to have a lot more ;)
I served my time for Rolls Royce from when I was 16, so I have developed a bit of a perfectionists habit :)
So, I really love building these bikes and try and put as much of my own work into them as I can.
I think you should "liberate" that kit from your friend ;)

Hi Paul,

The bike's looking really good and I'm really looking forward to seeing the final bike come together.

I can relate to your perfectionist attitude; I had a friend years ago who was a fitter & machinist and while I work to hundredths of an inch, he was accurate to thousandths!

Keep up the great work.

A little more done today. I cut off the remainder of the cast gear change lever, leaving just the splined boss. I machined some steel bar and welded that to the boss. I also machined a steel spigot to weld to the other end. Once welded up I dressed the welds and made up the link rod.

The kickstart was also going to interfere with the new foot pegs, so I re-welded it to clear

I've chosen to mount the rear master cylinder off the crankcase bolts. So, I machined a bracket that will attach using the casing fittings and mocked it up. I'll machine the spacers and links next weekend (the master cylinder won't be staying red)

Nice! I've seen a similar thing done mounting the MC to the rear engine mount, keeps it a little more discreet. But yours looks great to!

Hey Paul, Great build, here is a rear MC idea Ive been playing with
