UK Cafe Racer Build Thread

Thanks Bornleader, very much appreciated! No you don't. I often prefer to do things like that by hand. It may take 10 times longer, but I think the quality is far better. Plus it's a dying art.

I have found a rear light that I think might work. It kind of fits withs the rear end, so I'll fab up a bracket and number plate mount at the weekend.

Paul,
like the way you sorted the front fork conversion.

The hardest part for me was fathoming out the calliper spacers

I am now keeping an eye out for the R1 front end now THANKS MATE :)

I know. I machined my own but theres a company in Peterlee that does them off the shelf, different thicknesses http://www.projection-components.co.uk/

Might come in helpful

For the front end, a quick search:

Something to go on at least

Today I got the light and number plate bracket finally figured out. I cut the new rear subframe back 1/4" and made a new end with two nuts welded onto the inside to make attaching the steel bracket easier. I made the hanger in two parts - 1 part steel the other aluminium. I wanted to use the steel to support the light and take the aluminium number plate hanger, predominately because it offers more strength when bouncing around down the road.

I also got a neat little light / horn switch for the left hand bar. It has a switch for the lights with Off, Dip and Main beam, plus a little push button for the horn, As theres no indicators going to be on this bike, suits down to the ground :)

Good work on the tag/light bracket Paul. I think the light you picked out is a perfect fit for the tail section man.
How's the weather over there?
