What is this?

Hi all, I'm changing out the instruments on my 79 special.

I'm not sure what this is or if it is needed?, it mounts into the speedo base and plugs into the main harness.

Just need to know what it does and if it needs to remain connected?

I'm thinking that's the distance switch for the turn signal canceling device. So I am guessing your "simplified" wiring won't need that.

- tend to agree, reed switch, white-green and black cabling with white-green going to flasher cancelling unit
