I put new bearing and seals in the rear wheel of my XS and even though I thought I had them in all the way the inner spacer has a fair amount of play to it. Should there be any play there? I'm worried about side load on the bearings if that spacer isn't snug and touching the inside of both bearings. How much space is acceptable??

Did you put the tophat bushing in on the sprocket side bearing? It's a bushing that reduces the bearing down to the axle size. It gets forgotten about sometimes. You have to pound it out of the old bearing and install it in the new one. That spacer is usually pretty tight.
