    Wanted - TX650 Carbs

It was the fellow at 650 Central that advised against the VM34. He has stopped selling the kits as the price has gone up, as well as shipping, considerably. The switch to the VM34 was my original intent. What is entailed in mounting them? The kits came with new manifolds and mounting brackets...

    Wanted - TX650 Carbs

They are 38's. I was advised that the VM34 is a 2 stroke carb so power will be either low end or high end but not both. Also, I found the cost of a conversion kit to be prohibitive for me. US dollar is at over 40 cents on the $$.

    Wanted - TX650 Carbs

Sorry, thought I had replied to this. If they are the same then either would do. Still looking at a fix for the one I have but threads are stripped and a few other issues. Though I would check to see if anyone might have a pair.

    Backfiring

Thanks. You've given me things to look at. Fuel is fresh. Backfiring occurs on deceleration Set timing with strobe light, from your suggestion, and it is good Will look at coils. Been thinking about electronic ignition. any recommendations? Tri- Spark?

    Backfiring

TX650 with air pods and sportster pipes won't stop backfiring. Though it was too lean but plugs look fine - nice beige. Any ideas?

    Gas flow issue??

Checked the battery - simplest Did dynamic timing and it made the difference. I had done static timing and that along with some ill advice from a friend thought it was good. Did the static again and found the left to be off. Adjusted and then did dynamic. More adjustment. Also checked it at...

Yes I do and I'll have a look this weekend. Thank you. That would seem to be a good place to start.

    Gas flow issue??

Having a problem with, I believe gas flow. Bike idles nicely and accelerates nicely to about 3500 rpm in all gears and then begins to balk. Every once in a while it will get just past 4000 but then it seems to be gas starved. I've never done jetting but is this a jetting problem? If it needs...

How do you get to the sump filter without heat?

It was suggested I use heat. I thought there had to be a better way and there was. See a lower thread and the problem was solved.

How do you get to the sump filter without heat?

Thanks for the tips. Back up and running. I happened to use 3/4" plywood instead of pine:p There was definitely some goop of some sort on the gasket. Came off in small pieces and had to WD/stone the plate to get the gasket pieces off. All is good!

How do you get to the sump filter without heat?

I should explain. I'm a newbie to the TX650 . Just bought a 73 with a total engine rebuild and going through the break in period. I'm at 400m and am changing filters. See above question.

Is it possible to get to the sump strainer without the use of heat?
