    Vibration suppression

The reason it works ok on my bike is because the swingarm is mounted directly to the back of the engine, so all of that moves together. The other issue you'd have is the exhaust. If the exhaust is mounted to the frame it'll move independently of the engine and will eventually crack from the...

    Vibration suppression

Never heard of mounting an engine with spherical rod ends, be very curious to see what that entails. I guess if anything, you could try looking into the way engines are mounted in Buells and HD FXRs. They're all rubber mounted, so those engines shake pretty good. Might get you pointed in the...

    Are their any good vibrations?

Sato racing makes some nice looking bar end weights. I unfortunately can't convince myself that $65 is a reasonable price for bar ends. The bar end itself looks like a normal aftermarket bar end with tapered tangs, but instead of the normal small steel wedge, they have long brass rods with one...

first ride on 650 chopper some questions

I've always just run the two vent hoses to a T fitting and into one hose on any twins I've owned. Always works fine. That's the first time I've ever seen anyone weld an exhaust directly to the frame. Bet you never thought you'd need an angle grinder just to change your exhaust gaskets before!

I got a request and want to know if you did this

If you're worried the hole would be too big, you could always use two smaller holes to feed the wires through, spaced a little bit apart. Otherwise I'd do like Gary said and just reinforce the holes.

    This happened today

Oh no! I'm always paranoid about that happening. Glad you didn't have more damage than that. I tend to go a bit overboard with straps, I never know how guys feel comfortable when you see them hauling a nice new sportbike with nothing more than 2 of those cheap orange home depot tie downs. I...

Too close of a call today...

Glad you made it out of that one safe. Sounds like something probably worked it's way loose. Years ago I hit a deer at 2am. I was in college and T-bones a 12pt buck on a ninja 250. I came out of it ok, just needed a couple stitches in my left arm from where his antler cut me, have a scar about...

Who has the Harbor Freight motorcycle lift?

Appreciate it. That's why these numbers are helpful. HF says the minimum height is 8", I've seen places online say it's 7". Yours is 9". Maybe them changing them so often is why all of the measure a little different. I'll just have to go for it with the workbench and hope it fits haha.

What do you guys think about the Indian FTR1200?

Seeing what he did on his own with the 1190RX and 1190SX I think shows what kind of bikes he could've been making had Harley actually supported them. The company is slowly dying because it's customer base is dying off, and they blew off a chance to sell world class sportbikes because it actually...

What do you guys think about the Indian FTR1200?

I'm on my second Buell, and that whole fiasco with HD was baffling. They spend this money investing in the company, then do everything they can to keep them from selling. There's definitely some awkward ones in the bunch.... the blast, which HD made them product for their beginner riding...

Who has the Harbor Freight motorcycle lift?

Just looking for a little help. I'm about to start building a new workbench in the garage. I'm planning on picking up one of these lifts eventually, and I wanted to make the workbench wide enough and with enough ground clearance to be able to slide the lift under it when I'm not using it. I was...

What do you guys think about the Indian FTR1200?

Normally I'd agree, but that Ducati scrambler seems to be doing really well, and Triumph has one too. There may not be a 'tracker' market, but I think the FTR could slide right in with the scramblers when it comes to standard/commuters with more personality. At this point in time, I'd stick pick...

    Plasma Cutter

Is that the Cut50? I've seen those pop up online and people typically seem to really like them. Definitely on my list someday purchases. Let us know how you like it!

My review of 520 vs 530 chain.

I'd always hear about people swapping to 520 bikes as an upgrade. I knew they were thinner and supposed to be lighter but I never really was concerned about my chain enough to try switching. I agree the biggest difference probably comes with the quality of the chain. I saw the light when I...

    Rear shocks on a hardtail?

Where does the suspension go in the soft tail? I think it would make a decent looking bike. I'm curious how they get around the chain tension issue. Maybe the travel is so short it's not an issue. I guess they could also use a tensioner with a spring to help.
