    Typical issues after no use,

As to switching to different fuses and holder I need to check that out, that was Airwolfie's thought, I need to see what is involved. After reading my notes from last January when I removed rust and debris from the tank using marbles, small nuts and bolts and then filled the tank with metal...

    Typical issues after no use,

Thanks 5twins, I use 20/50 in my other Yamaha, couldn't see why not. I probably switched way back when as well, the dealerships are often a bit pricey for this stuff. Compression test is good 165/160 from left to right, multiple times. Forgot how much fun it is kicking over the engine with a...

    Typical issues after no use,

Good list, I actually cleaned the tank prior to my shoulder surgery, I was fortunate to get a fresh battery with the bike. I do have new gas lines to install, tires are a good idea, the brake bleeding is on my list but the braided line is not but is a good idea, (my plan was to put braided lines...

    Typical issues after no use,

late last December I brought home a '73TX 650, the bike started but was rough and clearly was not running well on one cylindar and the petcocks were weeping badly. So I ordered up some stuff ( new petcocks included) and tore the carbs apart for cleaning (much rust and grit debris), then life...

Would you put dual disc on a 72 XS2

Dual disc is a good look, bike won't go fast enough to need it, might be a bit concerned with the extra weight, blah blah blah. However if it's the look you like, why not, not going to see to many others like it. You will notice the extra front end weight should you stuff it in a corner without...

    650 find

I am thinking that the basis may be a 1972, but for sure the instrument cluster is wrong as are a few other items. I had a '72 way back when and currently have a '73 in progress, other than colour and a couple of small things it is close to being the same bike. They came in one colour that year...

    650 find

:) I am thinking it is not a '72 either, certainly the instrument cluster looks off, it kind of looks like a bit of a mixture of years. That matters not as you are taking it in a different direction anyways, hope the title is right and the engine is good, have fun with your build.

    Ready for the highway!

:)Take away the custom seat and that is almost identical to my '75 that I had when I set it up for touring. Very nice, brings back great memories of a month of riding down the west coast to California and then through Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. Enjoy the ride, other than the '72 I had...

New to this forum and the xs650

I gave my tank a good flush with hot water and oxy clean and let it sit over night, gave it a good sloshing about. Gave it a rinse the next day then I put the metal rescue in, ( kept the container and the tank in the house). I put the gas tank in a plastic tote and when I thought about it over...
