Finally got my XS650 running! Ran into another problem, need advice

Gauges don't work, so I'm not quite sure. When I take off the carbs tonight I am going to reset my idle screws to 2.5-3 turns, to make sure. Does that sound about right?

Finally got my XS650 running! Ran into another problem, need advice

So a while back I fried some electronics trying to jump my XS650 over and over again. It wouldn't run for more than a few seconds at a time. I cleaned the carbs, checked and cleaned my spark plugs, and cleaned my grounds. I finally got the bike running smooth(ish). Here is a quick...

Bike started a month ago, now nothing. Details inside

So I bought a 73 last month, and it ran, not well i might add. The bike had a dead battery that needed to be jumped, and when it did it started easily in 1-2 kicks. However the carbs needed cleaning and it took a lot of finess with the petcocks to get the right ammount of gas and not flood it...

How much do XS650's cost where you live?

I live in Los Angeles which probably has one of the HIGHEST markups I have seen for motorcycles (and everything else). Looking through craigslist here all of the XS650's are choppers, and when the stock ones do come up people want THOUSANDS for, even if they are rough project bikes, without...

Yeah you can bring your own carbs, however he doesn't want people bringing their own bikes. Since it is a general class, if everyone brings a different type of bike (vintage, Sport, Harley, etc.) I think he tried it before and it slowed down the class. I am especially excited for the engine...

Signed up for a 5 week DIY motorcycle repair/maintenance course

The course is only $300, so I dont think I can lose anything going and learning. I am sure anything I learn will be worth more than that in mechanic fee's. The guy has a pretty good resume too, and has some nice success stories from past students.
