Starting this thread for ease of keeping track of things. I bought a stocker that's in pretty good shape. Carbs look like BS38 at first glance, original ignition and wiring throughout, original gauge clusters and controls...all of it looks good and stock. It ran pretty well when I bought it...

I'm at the point where I'm willing to have someone build my bike...was wondering what shops are close to Iowa that I should be looking at? I'm not looking to spend 10k on a build, just wondering if there's anything out there...maybe I can get it to a point where someone can do the finish work...

How far is too far? How far is enough? I've had a few xs650's and each have their own quirks. I've yet to do a full motor rebuild from the ground up but I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger. I just wonder how far I can go in the performance department while not sacrificing...

Would putting a remote filter say, like this bike, at the rear help in cooling the oil? Or should an actual oil cooler be installed? Wondering what input you guys have?

Hard to describe, but I lost the 2 spacers that go to my throttle assembly where the two cables come into the hand grip. They're hollow and chrome and are about 3/4 of an inch long. Anybody help me out? Maybe tell me where I can get them? Or maybe you have a few laying around? Thanks.
