    Electrical Component Identification

Hi All Just going though one of the boxes of bits for my new new build (1975) to sort out all the electrical components ready to start wiring and found this, but can't seam to find any pictures of what it is. Is this off of a XS and if so what is it? Thanks

Afternoon Pete, I know you wanted to rent one, but you can buy a chain splitter for £15 from Amazon it would probably cost more than that to rent one. Other that that is there not a local biker Facebook page, someone on there might borrow you one

    Wheel & Bearing Width Advice

Thanks articxs . I visited the above as advised and looked at all the ratings. A bit above me but from what I have read the static and dynamic load ratings along with the Fatigue load limit are used to work out the life of the bearing. If this is the case it may not be, then it will just be a...

    Wheel & Bearing Width Advice

Thanks for that 5twins. I did look at the charts and also visited the local bearing supplier to see what different sizes they had, I even looked at doubling the bearings each side but I didn't think they would fit. I think I just needed some reassurance before I plough on, I will stick to my...

Hi Guys I have recently been working on fitting the front end from a KTM 990 Super Duke to my new project bike . I intend on using a XS650 front wheel rather than the Super Duke wheel but using the KTM axle which is 30mm. All has gone well so far, I have made a new stem to fit the KTM clamps...

    Kick Starter

Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question but today was the first time I have started and rode my xs. When I pull the clutch lever in this disengages the kick start. Is this normal? And if so is this to aid the electric start? Thanks

    Hugh's CDI Install

Just one wire in, then one out to earth then when the kill switch is pressed it goes to earth to kill the engine. One in the the other to earth where ever you decided. My be my simple diagram was a bit to simple? But it does show an out to earth , my be it a small one.

    Hugh's CDI Install

    Front Brake To High

Thanks all for that I think the frame for mine is a euro 75b and the forks must be of off a US model.Starting to make sense now why the bike is on a Q plate (as year Unknown) We have a large breaker near by who import a lot of US models so will go and get a larger disk. Just glad it's an easy fix

    Front Brake To High

Hi All I am just rebuilding my front and have now found that when the front caliper is fitted to the fork leg, only half the pad is hitting the disk. It looks like the caliper mounts are to high? The forks are 34mm and look to be the right way around as the drain screw is on the...
