Short, irregular bursts of power and lagging.

I’ll have to add that to the next round of upgrades. Makes perfect sense.

Awesome thanks for the tip. And ha. Autocorrect got me. At least the thread’s staying active! Also, interesting. Everyone on here is telling me I have a 78 but it’s titled as a 77. I checked the numbers via the thread here and got “77/78.”

Thanks, I will look there as well. I’m not sure my peacocks are set up right. I ran out of gas (fortunately a block from home) switched it to reserve, and there was nothing there.

New fuse holder as the old glass tube holder was upgraded to blade type when it was discovered to be the source of a short. New AGM battery but will test too. It is stock points. Thanks for giving me a place to start.

I just got this bike (77xs) and had it gone over. New exhaust (headers and mufflers). Mechanic road tested it, I rode it home from the shop (20min or so highway) then I rode it to work and back 40-60 min depending on whether highway or back roads) two days. I did leave the choke on and fouled...

    Let's See The XS's

Got my bike back from the shop and hit the road early this morning. So begins the season and my return to bikes.
  7. SolidGhost

What have you done to your XS today?

Yeah but only on the Smolder setting right? I was thinking of just using the Dim/Flicker.

What have you done to your XS today?

I admit it’s not what I did but had done. It’s been a busy time with the kids so I dropped my bike off to the shop to have it gone over by a keener eye as I just got it. New 1.5” headers and commando exhaust, alloy Lucas taillight, sorted a short that was blowing fuses. New tire and I’ll be...

What have you done to your XS today?

Funny, I just went the other way and had an alloy Lucas style tail light mounted. Good looking piece though.

What have you done to your XS today?

It’s just a small thing, but new Biltwell bars and Cole Foster grips.

Well, it wasn’t my exhaust dragging.

Nope! Dad to a toddler. Got them with the kids’ menu at the brewery when I took the family. 😅

Well, it wasn’t my exhaust dragging.

I know this won’t win me any favor around here but I had to get out and ride. It’s the first nice day in a while and the first one I’ve had a rideable bike in more than five years. Besides I heard something about upgrading the bushings on these anyway. 🤔
  14. SolidGhost

Well, it wasn’t my exhaust dragging.

Yeah, I wonder. I’ve ordered new headers and commandos but of course that won’t likely help much if it’s a stand/tang issue.
  15. SolidGhost

Well, it wasn’t my exhaust dragging.

I just bought this bike and heard a scrape on a left turn. I thought it was the regrettable slash cuts the original owner put on. Parked my bike, then I had an (unrelated) injury and a full week of rain to contend with. When I got out and took a closer look at my bike (didn’t have to get too...

The bike you wish you still had

My only other bike besides the XS I got the other day was a 66 Triumph Trophy. It had a 68 motor and a 69 front end. All the best years cobbled together quite by accident by a guy who didn’t really know those bikes…but then neither did I. My buddy went with me to pick it up, rode it about a...

    Just introducing myself.

Wow thanks. I think this will be my new exhaust setup. (Though I do also love the look of high pipes. I’m all over the place.) I’ll likely just replace the whole deal with these for a direct fit. I appreciate it. And I do like the euro bars, among some others but that relaxed wrist sounds right...

That seems like the move. Address the exhaust all at once and jet accordingly. I love the angles and flow of yours.

Love those. My last bike had reverse cones. So the 1 3/8 size isn’t a problem? Also if you don’t mind my asking, where are the headers from? Honestly I love your bike. I don’t think anyone will complain about too many pics of her. I’m thinking of something very similar. Lower bars than stock...

    Just introducing myself.

Yeah that’s about where I’m at. I’m going to change the bars to my liking and hang these from the rafters for now. Can always refit them. Yeah on taste alone the mufflers are out as soon as I find the right replacement (not Emgo). I might make some minor changes for fit and style but honestly as...
