81 street tracker southern indiana $1000-1250 obo
pretty much self explanatory. i wanted to sell this here because i'm likely to find a buyer who knows what he's looking at. i'll give it another week or 2 otherwise next stop: e-bay.
i bought this mostly as it sits as a non runner. got it running like a champ. this bike is a blast to ride. was planning to keep it but found a new project i need to pay for.
awesome: new vm34 roundslide carbs properly tuned. red wing shocks, hot wing glass xr750 seat, gordon scott engineering fork brace plus a mike's xs loop fork brace plus a skinny hot wing glass dunstall replica front fender. mikesxs performance coil. some nice pinstriping accents. wide tracker bars. new o-ring chain. new tires. H style high shoulder aluminum rims 19 front 18 rear.
good: solid 2-1 exhaust. rust free lined tank. tach block off. mini speedo. new petcock.
could be better: muffler lopped off because it was a ridiculous piece brazed on by the PO. amateur paint job. some ugly welds on the exhaust and rear brake return stay. some ugly grinder work removing frame tabs. with some detail work this could be a really clean machine. as is it's a super solid ground pounder.
potentially awesome: i bought this from a dealer who got it from a guy who got it from an old guy who built it. you see the problem here. i have no idea what's actually been done other than what i can see. the cylinder has been painted and the gaskets are new. potentially new top end work, chain, rings etc. even potentially some hot rod parts. who knows. what i can say for sure is that it runs great and that someone has gone through the engine already.
there is a reason for the price range: i'm looking to get $1250 if i sell it with the carbs or $1000 without the carbs and i'll use them on my next project. or shoot me a reasonable offer.
this bike begs you to take every corner sideways through neighboring yards.
