Bit of a long shot but I'm ordering 2 x idle air screws at a total cost of $22. However the shipping charge is an unbelievable $40 as Mikes will only use USPS priority International. (even so the total cost is still cheaper than CSMNL)

So I wondered if anyone else who is UK based is in the same position and wants to co-order and share shipping costs?

If so give me a shout.

Cheers

Nobody on that side of the pond sells anything ? There was a place on EBAY over there that had a bunch of parts.

don't forget Heiden Tuning in Germany
http://www.xs650.biz/
and there is Wemoto
http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/xs_650_se/81/
best place is probably Fowlers the main Yamaha dealership in the UK
http://www.fowlers.co.uk/parts/

Don't forget to check us out on the UK XS650 forums herehttp://www.customxs650.com/
Don't worry we are not all into chopping our bikes there is a good cross section on there .

Thank you for those replies. In truth these items are for an XS400 which uses the BS34 carbs. As Mikes XS seems to specialise more in XS 650 parts I though putting this request on the XS650 forum stood more chance of success.

However you guys have provided a raft of other options, some of which I have tried (Yambits + wemoto) but to no avail. At the moment Heiden tuning offers the cheapest option but shipping is still a not inconsiderable 17.5 euros for 2 x small items??. I do understand that a business needs to protect itself when sending goods out but I'm getting sick of paying extortionate shipping charges, when other options are available. For example a dealer in the US has just sent (to the UK) me 4 x genuine Kawasaki fairing plugs in a small padded envelope at $6.55 and for which I got tracking information. So one dealer can but another can't?? :banghead:

Anyway rant over, many thanks again for the replies and the useful links.

Cheers

What i have done in the past with Mikes. Have a log in account, when it goes through to final before payment it tells you how much postage is going to cost and the weight of the parcel.

I keep buying small stuff till the weight raises the coast of postage, for us in Aus it is around 2-3 lb, Things like jets, gaskets, connectors, grommets, badges, seals, bla bla bla

Here in Aus it costs $36.00 Postage minimum so we have the same problem as you. Mikes big money earner/rip-off is the minimum postage cost

Have you tried your local Yamaha dealer.?

that was my suggestion too. Fowlers are the yamaha dealers in the UK .
I supplied the op with the website link in my post. maybe he didn't see it:wink2:

Sorry guys, yes I did see the link for Fowlers, will try them tomorrow but got a link to NRP carbs who state that they include the Idle air screw in their individual carb repair kits at £20 each..............but I really only need the IAS..........

I can't believe the only thing the bike needs is, fuel idle mixture screws. next week it will be the gasket that got torn or some connectors

I seem to remember Mike's idle screws have a different kind of profile anyway. There was a long thread by littlebill (whatever happened to him?) where they discuss them.

I got one for another bike from a mechanic who decided to part out a carb because he couldn't get it to work. It must have had some passages blocked solid.

Mikes has a warning about the BS38 idle mixtures screw and the o-ring. I think the BS34 ones are ok.
