Engine frame interchangability?

i have an 77 frame, will an 81 engine mount into it? new to this stuff any help would be great.

i put a 77 engine in an 81 frame and it bolted up just fine! i'm sorta new to these bikes had mine for a couple months but i pretty sure the crankcase mounts and frame mounts are all the same atleast mid 70's thru 80's not to sure about the earlier tx's tho...

the downtubes curve towards the bottom on older bikes.but the engines are all the same mount wise.

- engines fit better when you use the mount brackets that came with the frame rather than the motor
