I put a two pin flasher on the brown/Black terminals and fuse pops
Put the two pin flasher on the brown w/white stripe/black terminals and nothing happens.

I've used two pin flashers in the past with good results. Mikes XS says that two pin flashers are ok as the 3rd pin was for the self cancelling feature.

What do I need to do and why is the fuse blowing?

The flasher needs to go on the brown and brown/white wires. Brown is 12v+ and the brown/white goes up to the signal switch.

Hi jim,
2-prong flasher in 3-slot flasher socket works OK on self-cancelling flashers.
Your XS650B don't self-cancel and the black wire is a ground so brown to black is a dead short through the flasher and that'll surely pop the fuse.
Brown to Brown/White should work though.
Try bridging the Brown & Brown/White terminals with a piece of wire and working the signal switch.
With a wire instead of a flasher unit the turn signals should light up steady.
If they don't, you have a wiring problem.
