Here goes, I'm an Aussie who has been lucky enough to pick up an '82 Heritage Special about a fortnight ago. It is still being registered/complianced so I won't get to take her home for another week or two. I am absolutely blown away by the amount of interest in these robust motorbikes. I'll be posting pics in an album as soon as I get to spend some quality time in the shed with the bike, a few soft rags and a bottle of 'purple' polish (and some autosol for the tricky bits). As it stands, the bike only has 19,000 miles on the clock and is in a very well-preserved state (imagine the scenario; bike was imported from Chicago and must have been driven once in a blue moon by a very careful rider, then wrapped up in a blanket and stored away lovingly in a garage). Even the plastics on this bike are in amazing shape, brake fluid reservoir has not gone brittle or cloudy. I've been riding for about two years now and can't wait to go for a ride on my new obsession. I'm keen to learn from the considerable wisdom (technical and otherwise) present in this forum. I'm a newbie but I'm eager to learn.
