Hi all, I often browse this forum (and 650 rider previously) for inspiration/entertainment, but don't post very often. Great site.
Three years of British winters and salt have reduced my trusty green '79 cafe to a shadow of her former self.

Time to press the recent project into service while the '79 gets a cosmetic refurb and probably a different tank and seat.

New ride is '81 UK roadster (points model) bought as a project and built up over the last year or so in the 'British' style. Had the mag wheel conversion when I got it. Quite a few bits were missing so some non standard parts found in the shed have been made good use of.
Passed the MOT inspection a couple of weeks back and clocked just about 100 miles before its first proper run, a 320 mile round trip to a bike show. The trip passed without major incident but I lost about a pint of oil (over my boot) from a slight weep from the clutch cover joint. Last 70 miles or so at a steady 75-80 mph (18 tooth front sprocket but still vibes a bit). Haven't been inside the engine yet. Compression is OK, have set clutch, valve clearance, camchain etc. She's a bit noisier than my '79 but I don't think there are any major issues, probably just more miles covered (no idea as to mileage). Changed oil after 100 miles and no aluminium
Will probably have a look at the top end in the winter to give peace of mind.
1st attempt at attaching photos - might have worked.
