Under a Scotsman's kilt

Actually I just figured out that this version is Bryan Bowers singing. It's on his "Home, home on the road" album. But John Denver's version sounds very similar.

Mike Cross is a bit of a local legend 'round these parts. He always sings that song when he does his shows. I just always assumed he wrote it.

Are you familier with The Bounty Hunter (actually got some nationwide air play about 30 years ago) or I Don't Know Who Threw The Liquor In The Well But I Think I Know who Found It?

Been a big Mike Cross fan since I was a tot. My parents took me a lot to Folk Fests in the 90s and he played a lot of them. He usually plays a place in Bethlehem, PA around my birthday in November and it looks like he is going to play the Bethlehem Musikfest in August, I'm going to try and make it to that.

My favorite song he did was Prodigal Son and I caught him off guard when I asked him to play it at a Blue Grass Festival when he was autographing a copy of "High Power, Low Flying" for me.

Of course, with college and all, I haven't gotten to see him in probably 10 years... :(

I'm a rum fan myself, whiskey takes like wood to me but...

^ Whiskey For Breakfast, another Mike Cross favorite of mine-- thanks.

If memory serves me correctly, Mike is from Georgia and went to college here in NC (or the other way around) I remember him playing the local bars and clubs (dives mostly) and private parties all over the area even before he started playing the theaters and festivals.

I always admired the fact that he chose to walk away from the record company "deals" and those who would try to push him to become more mainstream and like the rest of the crap that gets the most airplay.

At his solo shows, his wife handles the sound board and sells the CDs while he puts on a show everyone should see. He plays the Carolina Theater Greensboro http://www.carolinatheatre.com/ and Durham http://www.carolinatheatre.org/ most every year along with dozens of theaters and auditoriums in every community in this part of the country, always to sold out shows.

I was just saying who I thought performed that particular song in the video. I always thought it was a very old song, like "Whiskey in a Jar" or "Gallows Pole". Both covered and performed by famous bands.
That version is on Bryan Bowers album, http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/1024536/a/Home,+Home+On+The+Road.htm
