I might need to change the condenser on my XS. Is it safe to remove the top motor mounts to reach the condenser? I really don't want to remove the engine just to change a small, albeit important part. Can I support the engine from the bottom?

Oh, yeah, no problem. Just remove the parts of the top mount to get at it. The engine won't move, too many other mounts to keep it there.

Could take this a step further, remove the entire top mount and retorque the head nuts/bolts while you're in there...

No doubt it needs that head bolt re-torque. Replace the rubber/metal washers under the 4 outside acorn nuts with brass or copper ones while you're at it.

+3 retorque head bolts, find the thread. I do this before I even try to start any XS I am working on........
