buildin' me a tracker

First I appologize for name calling...it's not cool and very childish of me.
Second my only point was why didn't you just say I don't know or that you have to ask your friend for the part number. I wasn't very clear when I said new to brakes I just meant to ss brake line manufactures.
I get the whole educating myself, but part of education is asking questions of others and expecting a reasonable response. I thought I asked a reasonable question and was taking off guard when the response was to me snarky and mean spirited.
Again, I read too much into it and an Internet forum is a tough place to effectively communicate. Maybe you saw it as me asking how long of a line should I get, and I thought you knew I meant what brand did you use. However, retracing my orginial post it is very unclear what I was asking.

" You sure it wasn't stuffed with cheese? "
What my head? Yeah sure eh?
tires were at 15 and 18 psi too. Hopefully he was just an idiot and not trying to cover up something. Engine sounds good at 50,000 miles. One owner for 49,500 meticulously maintained miles, then HE had it for two years.......... But garage kept it's whole life chrome and paint is top notch, looks like 5,000 not 50,000 miles.
Ok I'll go nosh my cheese and a Leinies now.

Dave,
The Stahlwille set is a 1/4 drive socket set,,,,same tin I think.

Hope my Boss is not on this site as I have borrowed a few tools from work, if you know what I mean

LOL Leslie

Thanks Gary, I have not touched a Mig welder in years,,while I was welding the SHS together the Lads from the fab shop where stood around me taking the piss LOL at how bad my welding looked.

Next job draw some blanking plates up on AutoCAD for the carb connennctions and the exhaust connections, cut them out of 6mm mild steel on the plasma cutter.

then look at the best options for getting the crud of the engine.

Leslie

Dave,
I take it you just cleaned your engine down with degreaser then a cleaner?

Leslie

Yeah, sort of. Degreaser the blast with baking soda. Doesn't come out as good as bead blasting but I'm happy with it. Just make sure you plug the intake and exaust ports. While you're cleaning you might want to do alittle brushing of the more stubborn parts.

Wow, ok. then it's a PAIN IN THE ASS!! but you can still do it.

Dave,
just going to take my time, de-grease then may bead blast,

Next job draw some blanking plates up on AutoCAD for the carb connennctions and the exhaust connections, cut them out of 6mm mild steel on the plasma cutter then fit .

Anybody that's been followin' this build knows I've tried to do as much as I could to make EVERTHING as good and more importantly as reliable as possible. So early on I ordered new handlebar bushings from Mike'sXS. Keep in mind these bushings are maybe 3 months old and have always been in the garage. Not long ago I noticed this..........

Damn things look like they're 20 years old. Add to that I REALLY didn't like the way the handlebars flexed under load. So I got ahold of my buddy Hugh (yeah, he's my buddy:D) and ordered his machined replacement pieces. Nice work, Hugh! gonna put them on soon, have no doubt they're gonna be the bee's knees!!

Dave, I noticed this past Saturday how much vibration my XS has. With those solid mounts your bar's are bound to shake bad.

Yeah, well, we're gonna find out. My Husky vibrates quite a bit too. I just didn't like the mushy feel of the bars the way they were. Guess it's all about what you can deal with. This is not gonna be be my daily ride. 'sides, Hugh makes some cool shit.
