Anyone have any idea if this is a bad bearing? Or thoughts?
Sound like the described "whining" is engine rpm correspondent and not just either side of the engine. To me its sounds like a bearing but the cam chain is very suspect.
Check cam chain tensioner and condition.
Have you drained the engine oil to look for metal glitters or rubber chunks ?
Its really great to have this video to watch and hear !!
Hope for something simple...
I recently changed the oil before putting it away for the winter...
Hello XS gurus , here is an actual video/audio of a running XS with an audible symptom .
Surely somebody can hear this and recognize or guess ? Perhaps by the rpm its possibly clutch ? He!! it sounds kinda like a throw out bearing in my old chev truck.
This is a fun one
Open the LH round alternator cover, watch the end of the crank with it running or spinning over with the e-start. You can remove the sparkplugs for the electric start spin test. I'm pretty sure I know what that noise means.

You need to do what 4g said and visually check the crank for wobble, but both ends. Sounds exactly like that problem. Making a new video where it doesn't sound as bad doesn't fix it.
Not interested in fixing it?I posted an additional video to give a different perspective of the noise my bike is making. That’s all.
