BIKE ADDICT
Anyone running Shinko 270 tires on their XS. I want a vintage looking tire on my 81 Special.
How are you liking the Shinko? They fit the bill for vintage looking... Shinko 270 rear + Avon front...
After a bit of research I have found that Shinko only has a 5.00-16 rear tire, I dont think that will fit my 81 Special. They have a 4.00-19 for the front that i belive will work on my bike. Shame i really like the look of this tire. Might opt for the dunlop K70.
I have looked them up on the Shinko site, the 240 has the proper front and rear wheel size. The 270 has the proper rear wheel but the only 19" they have is a 4.00 and as Fred mentioned this will put my speedo off. I'm ok with the 240's they have the same look and same user reviews. Theres plenty of room under the rear fender but the front fender is close, so the correct 100/90-19 front 240 should fit better than the 4.00-19 270.Look up the 240 and the 270, nearly indentical pattern and fitment but one is taller than the other. I researched awhile back and found the info somewhere online. Could be helpful in deciding which one best fits your needs, and fender.....
Should’ve mentioned I was only referring to the rear sizes, best of luck.I have looked them up on the Shinko site, the 240 has the proper front and rear wheel size. I ran a modern tread shinko front for a while and it did fine, but I heard of a couple guys that had the tread fly off... Chinese tires... so I opted to spend a little more on the Dunlop.
Didn't see it for myself but worth the extra $ IMHO
