Springer forks

so you are saying the HD front ends are comparable with the xs neck by just using different bearings?

With the springer, yes with a slight modification(that I didn't have to do:doh:), HD bearings, and spacers. Can't say if it will work with all HD forks.

Well hers is my thang I am in the process of building a front end if I can build it for the HD and still adapt it to the Yami with just a bearing swap then thats what I will do if I cant then I will build one specifically to the Yami.:wink2:

In the next day or two, I'll take some pics of mine, to show you what I did. Then you can judge off those pics if it will work. Like I said, springer will work, don't know about other HD forks. Although I wouldn't know why not.

OK well I will keep this in mind since I am building the front ends from scratch I will be able to see if it will fit.Any help would make it easier to fab up from scratch let me know what timken bearing set you use.At present i am designing a leaf front end for one of my bikes, but i have also a designs for the girder and springer in the works.

Hey allegro, if your building the front-ends from scratch why not just make it fit the stock xs neck and bearings?

That's the whole Idea...... but to open up the market a little bit I will build a HD first and then engineer it to fit the Yami. If that confuses you let me say I need to have something in my hands to see what needs to be changed :wink2:

Ok, here goes.

Pic 1. Just took the OEM bearing top/bottom.
Pic 2. Flipped it, used as spacer.
Pic 3. Put the bearing on.
Pic 4. Part # for bearing.
Pic 5. Race top(would not focus)
Pic 6. Race bottom(again, focus)
Pic 7. Clears nicely on the bottom, needs bottom spacer.
Pic 8. Top nut back on.
Pic 9. I broke my glove. You can send me a check or money order for $.03

I hope that helps.
I'd like to say those are HD bearings, but I got the bike from the PO in pieces. I can tell you they are not the tapered bearings made to fit the XS. I have a set of those, and the angle of the taper(?) is different. The OD of the races are the same. So everything else fell into place.

I bet a lot of ppl would like to know what those bearings are!! You should do a little research and find out!

That eBay S.O.B. is calling my DNA springer junk!:wtf: I refuse to believe it. I do like the look of that Tribal springer though. Next bike I guess. I'm keeping the rear springs on the next bike, do you think It'll look right with springer forks? Don't think I've seen one like that. Have to go look.
