Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

Doing this was a bit scary.

Modified a cart I found at Delaney's the local surplus place extraordinaire.
Rolled into the garage with little problem.
We'll see if there's any issues with it being on the cart, has screw down pads so the casters aren't constantly stressed. Need to wire in it's dedicated VFD and control then finally chips!

Hi Gary,
for your next scary move, consider renting a Hilman Roller kit:-
https://www.southern-tool.com/store/hilman-roller-krs-lightduty-series.php
I have a salesman's miniature sample as a desk ornament, it's about 3" x 4" & 1-1/4" high and
I've used it to move my XS650 sideways in a tight space where to & fro-ing it wasn't possible.

Depends on what you are moving, I dislike the hillman rollers for something like a manual mill. Too much extra height and too skinny a base.

Caught one of Joe Pieczynski's videos on cutting a radius with a fly cutter - always up for new tricks so WTH! Works pretty slick, lot easier than draggin' out the rotary table, doing all the math and what not.

DE,
With a little "creative engineering" a guy might be able to adapt this to a 3"rotary table. Bought it a few years back when I had delusions of building my own rotary table, ended up picking up a 12" off Craig's so now it's just sittin' around. If ya think you could use it I'm sure we could work something out.

Beags, is that steel or aluminum? If steel, I think it'd be a bit much for my itty-bitty mill. I have some 1/2 inch aluminum on order to make a 6" round adapter.

Either way, really appreciate the offer!

Cast iron I believe. Thought maybe some one could use it, I'm sure at some point I'll come up with a use for it. Possibly a face plate if I ever get my Clausing lathe up & running.

Those look like T-slots. If so, I could see it being handy for chucking up oddly shaped stuff on the lathe.

My thoughts exactly DE. Now if I could just get that lathe project done! I'm sure it's on the list somewhere.

I needed to turn a square piece of 1/2 inch aluminum plate into a round piece. Too big to fit on my lathe, so the next best way to do it was to center it up on my rotary table and take about 30 thousands a pass off with an end mill. Works good, nice edge and perfectly (or perfectly enough) round.

REAL slow and a PITA turning the drive handle on the table by hand.

The handle extender I threw together helped a lot, but it was still pretty tedious.

So:

With the drill on low speed and a light touch on the trigger, it worked perfectly. Crude, but effective, that's me.
