Oops, I have an extra part!

Ok, I don't have a pick but I was putting my engine back together tonite and I came across this little black disk/ gasket type thing. It's about the thickness of a penny and a little over 1/4 in diameter. I remember putting it in a baggy with the retainer clips for the pistons but can't remember...

    Front vs rear

Can anyone tell why you shouldn't use a rear tire on the front of your bike. I'm looking for a wide ( 4" ) front tire with an aggressive tread and some that I have my eye on are classified as rear. Does this really matter?

    Why PMA

Ok, I need someone to convince me wether or not to invest in a PMA. He is busting his can to get this bike done before the end of the riding season and...

    Brats and suspension travel

I'm at a point on my 81 xs where I need to consider what shocks and how to mount. Looking at a lot of the photos of brats I find it hard to belive they aren't rubbing either the seat pan or the fender. I'm so concerned about this I'm concidering stretching the swing arm about 3" in hopes of...

    Tank bungs and caps

I'm looking for a good site to find tank bung and cap options. Really I'm mostly having a hard time finding weld in bungs. Specifically I'm looking for the recessed flush mount knurled cap.

First time ( newbie ) build off?

First time ( newbie ) dirty sock chop-bob-brat-rat build off! All should be a first time builder bobber, brater, rater. Hardtail weld on kits, milk jug gas tanks, and or anything else is ok to use. So if you have recently started a build or just bought a bike and are looking to start your first...

    Compression! What's good what's bad?

The guy who is letting me use his garage to rebuild my first xs did a compression test for me and it came out 150 L / 148 R. Is this good? Could it be better?

    Reconstructed?

I'm getting ready to start on my 81 XS, and I'm hearing different things about the legality of altered frames. Also if you buy a frame from say TC, do they come titled? I'm in PA, and was wondering if any of you have done this and how easy or difficult the process was?

Hey all, I'm new to the site and since I didn't see a welcome thread I started this one. My user name is actually my girlfriend name and that's because I just picked up my first XS650 to build her a sweet bobber with. I've made some posts already and look forward to being part of this site and...
