    KZ900 valve work?

Buddy of mine in Charleston SC has a KZ900 Kawi with valve problems, from his description of one valve not holding adjustment (bucket style adjusters, he adjusts it, a few hundred miles later it has no clearance again) a valve is pounding out a seat meaning it will probably need seats and...

Anybody here able to cut internal splines?

Long story short: I need to machine internal splines in a pair of #530 sprockets. It's 16 splines x 1.047 major diameter, don't have the minor diameter handy at the moment. Looks like a 30 deg pressure angle. Anybody here able to perform such magic?

    Snowmobile chain info?

Yeah, I know, who needs snowmobiles down here in SC? Here's the deal: I am gathering the parts to build an A Modified autocross and hillclimb car. Unless I want the thing to understeer and plow like a tractor I need to run a Torsen differential which requires lubrication, it's best...

    Cool build video

Don't know who or where this guy is, but he has great skills and built a really cool looking tracker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=Wix-sqwn_cw&feature=fvwp

    Anybody remember CYCLEtoons?

Anybody else remember these? Or am I the only one? There was Hogg Ryder: the Ol' Poop: and they rode Webley-Vickers. (guess they were scared of attorneys back then too)

    End of the world...

...was supposed to be at 6:11 AM Eastern time. No joy. :( I guess this means I wore my Mad Max outfit for nothin'. Oh, well, guess I'll have to create my own Mayan apocalypse: six Dorito tacos and a six pack of Tecate. :D

    What hydraulic hose length?

I'm finally getting around to bulding a hydraulic clutch conversion for my bike, using an Aprilia 28mm slave cylinder and a Mikes XS 12.9 mm master. I'm running drag bars, just wondering what hose length everyone's been using? I plan to go with a 90 deg fitting on each end.

    Ummm... I give up.

WTF was he/she/it trying to accomplish here?

Okay, where did I go wrong? (11mm master cylinder)

I want a better front brake but at this point don't want to get into hanging a 4 piston caliper and different rotor on my bike(although that could happen in the future). I decided to use an 11mm master cylinder on my 1980 XS650 with a single 38mm caliper, which seems to be a common swap. Got one...

Lightning at 9000 frames per second

I'm not big on vids unless they are impressive, and this one delivers. Go full screen and watch what happens in a thunderstorm... http://vimeo.com/45803576 in a whopping 2/3 of a second. It was shot at 9000 fps, for comparison movies are generally 24 fps.

Neander means designed by Neanderthal, I think.

I'm a function over form kind of guy and this thing is too ugly even for the likes of me. http://www.neander-motorcycle.com/shortversion-neu/main_en.html

    Skid lid recommendations?

It's about time for me to get a new brain bucket. I've been using my G Force car helmet which is a nice piece, comfy etc but the ventilation is lacking, plus it's sorta noisy since it wasn't meant to be used in an open slipstream. I have a nice Arai dirt bike helmet, nice stuff but IMHO a bit...

    Wiring harness musings

osteoderm's excellent build thread got me to thinking. The number one problem with old bikes and cars is the electrical stuff is worn and corroded. That means people will patch the harness to keep the bike or car going, that's fine but if not done properly will cause more trouble than the...

    Ball and ramp clutch?

I think about 90% of the stock clutch mechanism's problems (hard to pull, fussy to adjust, loses plate travel when hot) can be traced to the worm gear. When it gets worn, the friction increases and also the travel decreases because it cocks sideways etc. Redrilling the hole in the worm drive...
