Can anyone identify this bearing and where it belongs? It's a needle roller bearing. 20mm ID, 36
mm OD and 12mm thick.

Shawn, that looks like the roller bearing that fits between the shift drum and starwheel...

Damn. I was hoping it didn't go inside of the cases. Can it be installed without splitting the cases? Please say that it can...probably not with my luck.
I think you can. Hafta be a bit crafty.
Pull the right side, clutch, shift mechanisms.
Study the parts manuals.

Such an important part. Hard to imagine engine assembly without it....

Thank you for the help identifying it. I only have the cases closed and nothing else built yet. I'm waiting for a few top end parts so getting the cases closed is as far as I got. I noticed this bearing sitting near my kick Starter Assembly and panic set in. I'll see if I can install it tomorrow without splitting the cases.
