Dakota tracker

I've seen so many sturgis rallys, its hard to get jazzed up about them. I guess thats what happens when you grow up 12 miles from sturgis and went to high school there.

I did a little more Exhaust fab today. I had a piece of alum. pipe that I cut down and the trued up on the lathe(I had to drill some lighting hole in it to make it look cool) I had a piece of bar stock for the hanger. I will weld a small tab on the frame behind the number plate to hang everything off of. I'm not real sure that im going to use this bracket i guess time will tell. Most of the race bikes i've been around have a bracket similar to this and I want something that looks like it came right off the track. What do you guys think?

I like it! A lot of flat track ex. have a bracket hose clamped to the muffler/megaphone, I like your idea better. Mitch

I took the right side engine cover off this afternoon and was very surprised to see how clean it was inside. I was expecting gunk, sludge and small metal filings. WOW I guess a guy has to get lucky every once in awhile.

Built a rear caliper bracket today after work. I found a piece of 1"x3/8" aluminium bar stock at my local metal shop. I used the original as a pattern and then added a few lighting holes. Its been so damn cold I havent been able to do anything in the garage so it felt good to get something fabbed up even though it was something small.

This sundays project was to glass in my taillight bracket. I had already used vet panel adhesive to glue the bracket in place but I thought that I should glass over it for some added strength. I added a piece of 3/8" steel fuel line that I bent and flared for my tail light wires to run through. I think I will spray some undercoating or truck bed liner under the fender for some protection against rocks coming off the tire before I paint.

I worked on my head lights this afternoon. I made a bracket from a piece of 3/4"x 2" aluminium I then sandwiched it between the lower triple tree and the chrome cover on the forks, I used the two holes on the triple tree to mount it.

Well this is what I came up with for my number plate / headlite setup. Now you see it now you dont. I made the brackets from piece of 1/2" square tube, I welded one end shut, added a bung for a thumb screw(to lock the two pieces together). Then I cut a slot down the side where the other piece that is made from 1/4" key stock and 1/2"angle welded together to slide into. I welded the 1/2" square tube to the factory headlite ear that I had cut down to where I thought It looked good. Keep the number plate down in the day time and slide it up if you need to ride at night. I dont plan to ride at night so the headlites are on the small side but they are there.
