engine case stud removal

Anyone ever try to remove one of these case studs? The one closest to the camera in the pic has boogered threads (although they still work) and since this will be a racing engine I just wanted to be cautious and thorough and replace it. I have a stud removal tool but it won't work on a stud this small in diameter. Can anyone recommend a tool for these studs? Do they normally come out with the proper tool or will I have to wait for the stars to be in proper alignment, hire a witch doctor and sacrifice a virgin before I can even think about getting it out?

If you are replacing them a small pipe wrench will work.

Seeing that you've already pulled the cylinder studs, you're no stranger to this.
Heat is your friend.
