Engine storage - not sure what else to call it.

Short story. Got a pretty rough xs a few weeks ago. Went through all the necessary steps to get the engine running. It runs great. Now i need to work on the electrical, brakes, tires, and on and on. Any advice what to do with the engine while i work on the other stuff. I figure pull/clean the carbs, drain the oil, plug the exhaust and intake holes, wrap a towel or a blanket around it and shove in the corner.

Anything else i can do to make life easier when i get it back in the bike.

I also appreciate everyones expertise on the site. I virtually answered every question i needed with a little searching while trying to get her running again.

As for the pic. I know you have seen engines on stands before but what the hell.

Thanks

Take the gas tank off and empty the carbs of all the old gas.

Drain the engine oil and put new oil in.

Take out the spark plugs, pour in Marvel Mystery oil or ATF and put the plugs back in.

If the battery is good then hook it to a tender.

In other words, pretty much what you were planning to do.

if I am storing for any length of time in a non climate controlled environment I have the bike running and spray a fogger in the carbs (I use seafoam deep creep personally) ... it also helps to clean carbon of the valves and pistons
