I agree with above statement, check your compression. We had a older two stoke outboard come into the shop, the guy said it just dropped to a idle and will only run at 50%... I put a compression tester on it and found 25 psi on the #1 cylinder....

Thanks guys, all rebuilt. turned out to be crankcase seal.

after a new piston seals and a clutch its just like new.

Yup...I vote for Hotdog nailing it. I had an RT360 years ago that revved up uncontrollably and it was a crank seal. The trans seal going is the perfect answer to this, IMHO.
