Stock alternator and 3-phase rectifier/VR-115 reg.

With lights on and bike running I get 14.1 volts no problem. Bike runs and charges fine all day.

But as soon as I flip the high-beam (new, clean aftermarket dimmer switch) my voltage drops to ~10V and seems to keep dropping

Anyone have some idea what could cause this or where to start looking? The connections in the headlight bucket look OK, and I changed the bulb (H4) but still have the issue.

Thanks!

I'm wondering if your hi-beam switch is connecting both hi and low simultaneously? Or, just not disconnecting low-beam. Or something that causes both beams to be on...???

Thanks TwoMany!!! I just needed a nudge in the right direction :)

Went to check voltage on the headlight plug and got nothing from the yellow wire with the high beam on, then noticed theres a spot where the insulation had worn through. Should be an easy fix.
