XS650 Addict
Just wondering if anyone has used on of the hitch mounted carriers to haul their xs? There is one on sale for $80 and just looking for opinions. It is rated to 500lbs

I have used mine that I had for dirt bike and is rated at 400 lb. for transporting my XS. Worked fine, I think so long as the carrier is reasonably strong, the limitation you face is how high you want the front of the tow vehicle to go. I brought my V Strom 1000 home from Brampton on it, I feel that I would not go any heavier than that.

The first few years the bikes weighed about 409 lbs. The rest weigh 467 lbs.
That carrier don't leave much extra safety margin.

I used a borrowed one on my 2005 GMC Envoy to haul my '82 Heritage Special home when I bought it, about 250 miles, piece of cake.
