Polishing question with pictures

since we're on buffers here, My hf buffer is only 4amps.
I just had a vacuum cleaner burn up the bearings in the brush roller. The motor in it is 12 amp. If I'm not mistaken, a 12amp motor wont bog down as much as my 4amp hf motor. I'm considering turning the vacuum motor into a buffer. Thoughts? The output shaft is 3/8" and is just a bare end. no threads or threaded hole. the belt for the roller just went around it.
Any ideas how to attach a wheel to it? I have a mig welder, but I think if I weld a bolt on the end of it, It would be unbalanced. I guy at work suggested weld a bolt on it, then with it running, use a grinder to center it, and it might balance.

Good luck.....I had the same issue and just bought others and buffed them up. Problem is you can't really beadblast it off - you'll wind up just pushing the copper plate around. You can try to sand it, but then you risk going too deep.
