triple tree flip

I’m doing a XS2 and one thing I noticed was how thin the lower steering stem was. Also how thin the tube clamps were. I was afraid of breaking them torquing the tubes down. Almost looks like a bicycle setup. I think I’d worry more about that than anything. My CB750 steering stem is way more burly. Just sayin. Food for thought.

Swapping forks can be expensive. A steering stem swap makes it easy, but you either have to run the matching wheel, buy a cognito hub, modify a hub, or make a custom axle. None are exactly cheap unless you can do the machining. I think between forks, brakes and wheel I'm close to $800. But that was doing all the machine work myself and paying to have the wheel custom laced. I might have been able to get down to 4-500 using the matching wheel.

You can stick an SR500 top clamp on, prettier, and it's flat so it gives you suspension drop.
