Where can i find oil filters?

Hi,
Nathan here. Does fram make an oil filter for the xs? Does autoparts stores carry either filter?

No and No. MikesXS, your friendly Yamaha dealer, an on line Yanaha dealer or fleabay. Get gaskets also. They are screens and can be cleaned but the sump screen will be torn.

If you're talking about the small kidney-shaped filter, consider replacing that with the "Heiden" kit available from Mike's XS - it uses a larger-size, round filter that's easier to find and has more filtering capacity. Some folks don't like the look of it protruding from the right hand cover, and it probably doesn't do too much to cool the oil, but I like the extra filtering capacity.

With the Heiden kit you can find the filter at Pep Boys or Auto Zone. Fram CH6015 if memory serves correctly. Type "oilfilters" into the search feature and the link to the list of filters that will work in the Heiden oil cooler filter will show up. I'm using it.
