XS2 two years in the making

I know what you mean about that 55 MPH era. The young ones have know idea how hard it was to drive 55 on the open roads. Nice looking bikes for that many miles
 
Very good work, this XS2 looks awesome. I will begin the restoration on my XS2 soon, I hope it will be almost as beautiful as yours.
 
That's really good info on the bead blasting. I was going to try soda blasting because I don't have a bead blaster and you can make your own soda blaster really easily.
 
I use enough to get it nice and soapy. It rinses well. Try both the 0000 and 000 grades of steel wool. I remove the part from the bucket, get the steel wool pad wet with solution and rub the outer surfaces with it, then rinse with hot water. I go through a couple of pads of wool because it tends to break apart. Just have to experiment.
