79F 120mph reading speedo appears to be the same as a 79 Special speedo. Tho I do not have one off hand to prove.
Now that my front end is back on and I gave the front wheel a good spin (plenty of em)
It seem my speedo stays stuck at 0 mph..
No movement. The cable is spinning freely and all . Speedo drive nicely lubed.
The speedo sounds like it is working. ( tik tik etc)
This bike sat in a moist climate before I hauled it home.
Do any of you think I can easily bring this speedo back to life or is it time to start looking for a replacement ? View attachment 134435
Thats a good point and no not yet. I am being a little cautious so far as I dont want to further damage the action yet.Hi Machine,
didja spin the wheel enough to see if the odometer works?
Yup, you guys seem to have me steered in this drill drive ..Put a drill (in reverse) on the cable and see if that breaks it loose.
Will rattle that doorknob !Randy, take your speedo and jostle/wiggle/twist it, face up, like it was a doorknob on a horizontal cellar door
