Thanks for straightening me out
. I'm no mailman, so just a couple O lame pics and a basic trip script.
Left Weds 7 AM, returned Sunday at 3 PM, 1500 miles around Lake Superior, a gorgeous trip
if you like rugged coastlines, lots of streams and waterfalls, pristine northern forests and friendly Canadians.
Had good weather, only a few hours of riding in off and on rain and a couple showers at night while we were snug in our tents. Phil is a great cook, He did all the cooking and REALLY knows how to pack a bike.
First night; Flowing Well national Forest Campground, w the old guy discount $10 a night. 6 sites, a ways down a gravel road.
Went into Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. Visited the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre there
www.bushplane.com/
Then up to Lake Superior Provincial Park where we got a campsite at Agawa Bay, with a lake view.
This was a route choice moment, go back and do the south shore of the Lake in the UP and Wisconsin, or head up around the northern shore. Phil made me pick ( a story there) Phil's a preplanner, gggGary more follow his nose. Went north, which turned out to be the right path. (weather). This trip would be a great two week trip but we were out for less than a week, so averaged 200-300 miles a day. With an early start, breakfast, coffee, packed and rolling before 8AM, we were at our evening campground by no later than 2PM which got us sites without reservations, ( couple times just got a site before the campground filled) and plenty of time to explore the local area, sunsets were AFTER 9 PM....was still reading in my tent without a light at 10 one night.
Stopped at Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park just north of Thunder Bay.

just a few more scenery shots, Our last night was at Tettegouche State Park in Minnesota
then 350 miles to home.
A bit more about a trip like this here.

A few more notes.
This is RURAL; expect 50 to 80 miles between (not out of business) gas stations.
You need a passport or pass card to enter and
return from Canada.
You are "up Nort" expect cool weather.
Bring bug spray, there's an assortment of biting pests, hiking woods trails, camping, without spray could be miserable.
Don't expect lots of services etc. to be 5 minutes away.
Pics don't do this area justice, you HAVE to go see it in person to appreciate.
Looks like I sold the Venture as soon as I got home, so will be looking at a different touring option.
Venture is comfortable as an old pair of shoes, put 13,000 miles on it on several cross country trips but not so fond of such a heavy bike any more.
