    Replacing engine with different years

Great, I haven't heard of cam timing, I've only done the cam chain adjustment under the acorn nut. How would I check the timing? I'm giving him pretty much $500 worth of bicycle parts for the engine.

    Replacing engine with different years

Got a 78 special with the engine head messed up, I got an offer to get this 76 xs650 engine, would it swap over fine? Bs38 carbs work too? Wondering if I would have to replace the cam chain if I did a swap as well.

    Cam chain sticking out

Roughly 13,000 miles on it. I'll take the head off and see what damage is has that I can tell, and look for further help at that point.

    Cam chain sticking out

Looking on mikes xs, instead of getting the bores bored over and the valve seats cut, could I replace them with a bigger size?

    Cam chain sticking out

Sigh. Pretty over my head and almost not worth it in costs since I bought it for 800. Looks like I'll be pretty st least 600 into fixing it. No clue what half the things are that'll need to be done to the engine. I appreciate the help!

    Cam chain sticking out

Well, great. After researching a bit I believe I can get the engine out and head off. Any tips/links of what you mentioned above and maybe rough price

    Cam chain sticking out

I checked the tank, empty. Combination of both? Both plugs out. However, I did not have the flywheel almost to the T mark which I took the photo of the advanced pin. Should I have?

    Cam chain sticking out

Its damn near impossible because it stops directly before the T mark, and I have to slam the wrench down to get past it, which sends it past the T mark.

Not 100% sure what the advanced pin is, but this is what I have

    Cam chain sticking out

    I'd say about 0.5 of a centimeter.

    Cam chain sticking out

I'd say not even a 1/8 of a turn before it jams. I can order one later this week. I thought I'd see what I can do with timing before I attempt the head. Have some pretty sticky weights on the advance side. Took out the rod, cleaned, greased. Still sticky. I have most the tools.

    Cam chain sticking out

I put the bike in 5th gear, put in on the center stand and started to rotate the rear wheel. No clunk, but I could only rotate it about 1/3 of a turn before the wheel stuck/seized. I can't really align the rotor with the T, it gets stuck right before it. So I tried adjusting the plates for...
