Is my Rephased crank a righty or a lefty?

Haha. I have a little one too so know the score. No worries. At the moment I'm talking to Jerry at Heiden who thinks he may have time to do one for me in about a months time but if that doesnt work out I'll come back to you, thanks for the offer. I've now just gotta work out the answers to my...

Is my Rephased crank a righty or a lefty?

No worries Hugh, I know how it is when you're busy and getting tonnes of email. My enquiries never seem to be straightforward! You may recall, I sent you photos of my original cam because I was worried it was too scored, you confirmed and said it'd need a regrind. So I enquired about buying a...

Is my Rephased crank a righty or a lefty?

Thanks. I've spoken to Hugh, but he said he was too busy to assist with my cam so I've gone elsewhere. My cranks were stripped and all bearings replaced so I'm not 100% sure the left side is unchanged. Thats the kinda thing I wish I knew how to check so I can be sure its put back together...

Is my Rephased crank a righty or a lefty?

Thanks for the replies. I'd like to know if there's a way I can 'know' for certain rather than guessing? I dont really know about the firing order still. Does right side advance on the crank mean its a left side fires first? My brain can't work that out. :wink2: I don't really want to...

Is my Rephased crank a righty or a lefty?

Hi guys, my crank was rephrased by a local (at the time) moto engineer a couple of years ago. I asked him to do a right side advance same as most people seem to do. He was going to do a matching cam for me but ended up saying (after having the cam and crank a year) that he was unfortunately too...

    Gasket surfaces

Hi fellas, quick question. Cleaning up my various parts ready to put back together. I wondered about my gasket surfaces. I've not got any big issues, nothing stuck on etc. But I've seen some photos of builds and the surfaces look incredibly clean, very fresh. I just wondered what people...

What do you put Threadlock / Locktite on? (or don't you!?)

Thanks for all the advice guys. I've bought some 3 bond and also some never seize ready to go. Couple of questions... Leo thanks for explaining where to put the 3 bond on the head areas. Do you also use the Anti Seize on that gasket? Or is it just plain gasket with the few special areas of...

Alloy or Stainless Steel Fenders / Mudguards?

Hi Fred thanks for that. Definitely siding with the stainless ones. I'd prefer durability over weight saving, I've already shed a fair amount of weight. Cheers

Alloy or Stainless Steel Fenders / Mudguards?

good points, thanks. I'll probably get the Stainless one then. Thats cool. I've seen them all over the place in little independent shops such as "Matt's" in Bristol and online / ebay. cheers

Alloy or Stainless Steel Fenders / Mudguards?

Tearing with vibration! I hadn't even considered that side effect! I'll be mounting a lightweight tail light but our number plates in the UK aren't exactly small / light. Thanks

Alloy or Stainless Steel Fenders / Mudguards?

Hi there. I'm going to mount a universal rear mudguard (aka Fender, I'm British ;) ). I can get them in Alloy or Stainless Steel but wondered what advantages / disadvantages there were for each option? I've spent some time googling but not really found much opinion on it. Thoughts guys?

What do you put Threadlock / Locktite on? (or don't you!?)

Thanks Leo, thats interesting that you don't use bond on the gaskets but use anti seize instead. I've not heard that before. where on the head gasket do you use seal? I've just ordered some three bond actually. I'll get some anti seize too. When I did my strip down there was silicone sealant...

What do you put Threadlock / Locktite on? (or don't you!?)

Getting ready to reassemble my engine (including the crankcases) and I'm a bit confused because I've had some conflicting advice. Should I or shouldn't I use threadlock / locktite on any of the bolts and screws? If so which ones do you use them on? If not should I use anti seize on...

Cross over shaft .Is this amount of float normal ?

Hi guys. I'm worrying about this same issue. What's the conclusion? I am deleting my starter too and removing the gears but I was going to leave the cross over shaft and gear in place so that if I need to re-install the starter I won't have to split the cases. However I'm worried by how...

Air mixture screw / Pilot Screw - BS34 Carbs

Thanks guys. yeah the red thingy's came with it, they fit quite well and I sort of like them, they look a bit 'race' hah. Nice tip on the bungs though. The saw mark is only on one tower, sounds like you've got a good theory there. Glad it doesnt need to be fully sealed. Thanks again guys

Air mixture screw / Pilot Screw - BS34 Carbs

Apologies! Stripped it again and the washer and o-ring were stuck in the barrel. I fished them out. Looks like the o-ring is intact but quite flat, might need replacing. I noticed that the barrel of one side has a cut in it from the previous owner, I guess from when they removed the cap. Its...

Air mixture screw / Pilot Screw - BS34 Carbs

ps. I used some hardware store o-rings before to replace my needle valve o-rings and they just disintegrated. I guess there's therefore a need to use specific grade o'rings on these things exposed to fuel etc.
