I wondered if any of u know what the length if chain
I would need for a 17/30 t set up witn 530 chain on
a factory stock arm on a 1980 xs650? I figured I'd
have to take out 3 links but I wanted a heads up...
Thanks for ur help!, btw anyone know a set up that
can but the xs into 140 mph territory and remain
streetable?. Thanks again?

I have 32 teeth on mine and that is as low as I would go. It really looses a lot of its get up and go. (especially if you are a fatty like me)

Oh I figured but I'm taking 565ish mile run to Pa from Boston
run in about two weeks and I need those highway gears so my
bike don't rattle it self to death lol. I'm keeping the 34t I've got
so when I retire I'll swap em and if I go on some long runs Ill put
the 30t back on I just wanted two diffrent chains so the swaps
nice and easy thanks for the reply btw!

I weigh 180 and put the 30 rear sprocket and think it was a great choice for even short rides on the highway... so much less vibration.

I have 17/30 on mine with the 104 length chain. The wheel is pulled back about 3/4's of the adjustment slot. I thought of shortening the chain but might go back to a 32 on the rear.
I'm in the process of building a 750 engine, having the choice of 30 or 32 might be handy.

U got 104 so figure a link or two less I'll be ok, and when
I get my 750 kit form mikesxs and carbs I want a 28 or
lower sproket so I can blast down the high way... It's all
about speed and style and not driveing a r1 or gsxr like
everyone else haha...thanks for the advice and let me know
how the 750cc comes out!
