1979 Yamaha XS650 basket case. I’ve had this thing for 10+ years and have never had the time to do anything with it. Got it as a basket case without a title. Recently was able to track down the previous owner and have a title coming for it in my name. I’ve also got miscellaneous parts and pieces from random years, including a complete engine and a lower end that has been taken apart (still have the crank/trans,etc).

The condition of engine in the frame is unknown. When I got it it had been sitting in a field with the spark plugs out of it, so I’d guess it’s seized. The kicker kicks over but there’s no resistance and the engine doesn’t turn. The front wheel is an old bent sport bike wheel that’s just on there to keep it up off the forks.

I’d like to get $800 OBO for the lot. Located in Jefferson City, MO. You must come pickup. I will not ship.

I had someone ask about the engines, so I took a photo of the engine numbers for the spare engine and the bare crankcase.

The spare engine is #S650-114103. So it’s a ‘72 XS2 engine.

The bare crankcase is #4N9-003947 so it’s a ‘81 crankcase.

I also want to clarify that there are many more parts that come with the bike that are not pictured. I have a seat, handlebars with controls, brake caliper, brake drum cover, etc. I think I have a set of carbs for it as well. There’s too many boxes that I haven’t been through in years.
